Lets clarify that news of a sequel to The Fog is awesome, simply because it will be a direct sequel to the 1980 horror classic and not the dire noughties remake.
So, yes after the huge success of Halloween, it seems the studios may be looking at the back catalogue of horror maestro John Carpenter as the legendary director has admitted that there have been discussions about his old film, most notably The Fog which starred Jamie Lee Curtis and Tom Atkins.
Here is what he told NME.
“There’s been talk of a sequel to The Fog, there’s been talk of sequels for a bunch of my movies. They just haven’t happened yet because of various reasons. But yeah, we’ve talked about them and I’m open to them….“
While it does not suggest that announcement is on the way, there has been talk of a proper sequel to The Fog for many of years and the fact that Blumhouse are already moving forward with a new version of Carpenter’s The Thing, this does feel like the first hints that we could be heading back to Antonio Bay in the near future.
With The Fog being one of HCF’S most cherished films, its a visit we really look forward to happening, even more so if this is the film that will tempt Carpenter to make one last horror……
