We bring you the sad news that Dean Stockwell died two days ago in his home from natural causes.
Probably best known for his roles in Blue Velvet and Quantum Leap, the extremely versatile actor had an interesting career, making his name as a very prolific child actor, most notably in The Boy With The Green Hair before dropping out of acting for five years. He then gradually worked his way back into movies, doing lots of TV before making a huge impression in the true-life murder tale Compulsion, but after a while became disillusioned with the entertainment business and joined Hollywood’s famous Topanga Canyon hippy culture, though still made the odd counterculture-themed movie such as The Last Movie. A career revival eventually began with David Lynch in 1984 casting him in a small role in Dune, followed by Paris, Texas and an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor in Married to the Mob. He was then kept busy in both movies and TV ranging from The Rainmaker to Battlestar Galactica until a stroke in 2015 caused him to retire from acting.
So here it is, that lip-synching scene from Blue Velvet, one of my favourite musical movie scenes ever!
