5 Cannibal Movies to Watch Out For!

With the release of cannibal horror-comedy, Fresh Meat, available on demand in the UK via pay-per-view with Virgin Media, as well as select digital platforms including iTunes, PlayStation, and Xbox from today, we decided to take a look at 5 other cannibal films you must see!

CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST
Everyone has heard of the infamous Cannibal Holocaust, even if they haven’t seen it. The found footage style film showcases ‘documentary’ footage shot in the Amazon rainforest. The most recognisable still of Ruggero Deodato’s notorious film is that of a naked woman skewered. Nice! If you’re looking to watch a cannibal movie, this is it!

THE HILLS HAVE EYES
Directed by Wes Craven and starring horror icon Michael Berryman, THE HILLS HAVE EYES features a ‘normal’ American family who are stalked in the desert by deranged savages. The 1977 movie proved rather popular and was remade by Switchblade Romance director, Alexandre Aja, in 2006, a remake which spawned a sequel.

WRONG TURN
There’s been so many Wrong Turn sequels, I’ve lost count, but as per usual, none can beat the  first film in the series. The film stars a bunch of inbred cannibal hillbillies who hunt down a group of people in the woods. Your usual modern slice of horror but entertaining nonetheless.

FRONTIER(S)
Xavier Gens wrote and directed this horror, about a group of young criminals who flee Paris after a violent political election. They take up residence in a Bed and Breakfast, only to find that it’s run by Neo-Nazi cannibals. This flick will put you through a hard time when viewing, so prepare yourself!

THE GREEN INFERNO
We’ve no trailer for this flick yet, but after shooting in South America, we can predict that Eli Roth’s upcoming cannibal horror will be the one to watch! Involving a whole village, including little kiddies, The Green Inferno promises guts and gore! Can’t wait!

I love practical effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Yakuza Zero and Mafia III.
