Marvelous Games, the European division of the Harvest Moon publisher MarvelousAQL, has today unveiled more details on RunBot – the first title to emerge from the recently announced five-game publishing agreement with Touch Racing Nitro developer Bravo Game Studios.
Due for release worldwide on iOS on August 22nd, RunBot is a brilliant Parkour/freerunning twist on the endless runner genre, offering phenomenal 3D visuals across a constantly evolving course.
The game casts players as RunBot – a powerful machine designed as the next-generation weapon system. When RunBot unexpectedly develops artificial intelligence, he breaks free from his creators. After that, all hell breaks loose.
Players must negotiate an ever-changing series of levels as they sprint through a wonderfully-realised 3D city. Obstacles must be avoided using intuitive touch/swipe motions to control a series of Parkour moves – vaulting static obstacles, sliding underneath electrified fences, leaping vast chasms – anything to keep ahead of the authorities.
To keep players alert, the game shifts to a tilt-device flying mode as RunBot freefalls down tunnels between different stages, taking the chase to the air. Avoiding spinning ventilator blades, metal beams, and killer laser towers takes keen reflexes and a steady hand – players must subtly tilt and twist their devices to guide RunBot to safety.
Life is not easy as a cutting-edge running machine – you have jaw-dropping abilities but they take energy… lots of energy. Players must keep an eye on their power levels – run out, and it’s game over. Thankfully, special battery cells are dropped liberally throughout the city to keep RunBot running.
The batteries also serve as the in-game currency. Between stages, players are given the opportunity to boost RunBot’s already formidable capabilities with boosters such as improved armor, jetpacks, and missiles, designed to offer an advantage in the coming pursuit.
“The feedback we’ve had from those who have seen RunBot during development has been remarkable,” says Harry Holmwood, CEO, MAQL Europe. “It’s a brilliant twist on the endless runner – offering a genuinely fresh perspective on the genre. Bravo Game Studios have rightly been lauded for their past titles such as Touch Nitro – but RunBot is going to take them to a whole new level.”
RunBot will be available for iOS on August 22nd, with other formats to follow thereafter.
