For our very first ‘Monday Musings’, we asked a couple of our staff and our readers on Facebook and Twitter for their favourite ‘feel-good’ horror films. You know, the ones you get a kick out of watching and make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Well, we sure had some suprising suggestions from our readers. Check out the responses below…
@horrorcultfilms Porbably something less intense, less serious, like Lost Boys, Evil Dead Army of Darkness, From Dusk Til Dawn— James.E.Parsons (@ParsonsFiction) August 3, 2012
@horrorcultfilms Just great fun dialogue, ass kicking action, absurd tales but still bloody great terror— James.E.Parsons (@ParsonsFiction) August 3, 2012
@horrorcultfilms The Silent House cause there’s so much tension in that film and I like tension in Horror movies— Sufyan Pat (@sufy1000) August 3, 2012
@sufy1000@horrorcultfilms Loved the movie but “Silent House” is the ultimate downer. Was depressed for hours after seeing that.— Kevin Sommerfield (@slasherstudios) August 3, 2012
@horrorcultfilms The Exorcist. As good in the end defeats the pure evil in the film.1 of 2 of my fav horror films, the other is Texas chainsaw— steve gonzo reeve (@dicanio72) August 3, 2012
HCFs War Chief Bat proudly revealed that Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, for it’s Silver Shamrock goodness; Shark Attack 3: Megalodon, for that line and the fabulous John Barrowman; Osombie for Bin Laden zombie and Nazis at the Center of the Earth, also knowns as Bloodstorm, for it’s batshit crazyness.
HCF’s News Editor and HCF reviewer Matt Wavish proclaimed to quite enjoy The Frighteners. The reason? Well, Peter Jackson, Michael J. Fox and the drill instructor from Full Metal Jacket, oh and ghosts. Say no more!
It seems there is a varied mix of what is ‘feel-good’ in a horror film and some just love the pure horror of a film, where others like the comedy and action elements.
