Win DEMONIC on DVD In Our Competition

When Detective Mark Lewis (Frank Grillo) is called to a local house, he finds the bodies of three slaughtered college students. The only survivor, John (Dustin Milligan) claims they held a séance to summon ghosts of people killed in the house years earlier. Now, three of his friends are dead and two are missing – including his pregnant girlfriend.

Teaming up criminal psychologist Dr Elizabeth Klein (Maria Bello), Det. Lewis investigates the videotapes discovered at the scene to try and uncover what really happened that night. What they find is more terrifying than they ever could have imagined…

About Bat 7024 Articles
I love prosthetic effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Kingdom Come: Deliverance

  1. Detective Joseph Thorne In Hellraiser: Inferno. He’s a corrupt drug-user who has to endure those disturbing hallucinations because of Pinhead’s puzzle box. A very underrated movie.

  2. Patrick Dempsey as Detective Mark Kincaid in Scream3. great film. love Liev Schreiber. great actor. love the fact that the scream series was still entertaining, some sequels are pants.

  3. Jodie foster in silence of the lambs because the the was not gory but it let you imagine the terror in your mind and she played her part to perfection.

  4. Denzil Washington and Angelina Jolie’s brilliant paring in the Bone Collector. A paraphlegic and a rookie cop made for a fantastic storyline.

  5. Al Pacino in Insomnia, his portrayal of a detective on the edge, being sleep deprive and not loosing his mind while hunting a killer is quite well played in my opinion.

  6. Morgan Freeman in Se7en was brilliant but I think for sheer “chillingness” I’ll go with his Alex Cross in Along Came A Spider. Superb movie and whilst not a ‘horror’ it certainly provided enough of the genre requirements within its story. MF was fantastically believable as Alex Cross.

  7. Sergeant Howie (Edward Woodward) in the Wickerman! Plenty of freaky paganistic stuff going on Summerisle that makes you wonder what really goes on in some rural or isolated communities.

  8. Loved Shutter Island with Leonardo di Caprio who plays a detective sent to investigate a disappearance from an asylum. Great performance from Leo.

  9. I’ll go for something completely different & say Detective Frank Drebin in Naked Gun, the first film was so funny!

  10. Morgan Freeman in Along came a Spider and Kiss the Girls – I’m a big fan of James Patterson and Morgan Freeman is perfectly cast as Alex Cross

  11. Although he’s a Private Detective, Harry Angel from Angel Heart. The scene where he’s slowly realising who he really is, stays with me.

  12. going to go with liam cunningham in argento’s “the card player”. it’s not great argento (in fact, it’s nearer the bottom end of his work than the top), but liam cunningham rocked up in that film, threw away the script and did something no-one does in argento films: acted.

him bursting into the office of the turin police at the start of the movie and, in his thick irish accent, shouting “this is all bollocks!” is one of my favourite cinematic moments.

  13. Clarice Starling of the F.B.I. 😉 Silence of the Lambs is one of my all time fave movies and I think Jodie Foster’s best film. It’s a shame she didn’t come back for the sequel as Julianne Moore ruined it for me. Clarice didn’t let the fear of the hunt take over even though it creeped me out 😉

  14. Another vote for jodi foster as “clarice”, even now i can hear hannibal saying her name, and i agree with jo carroll i would have loved her to reprise her role in the sequel.

  15. Michael Coles as Inspector Murray in both Dracula A.D. 72 and The Satanic Rites of Dracula. Mainly because I do love the old Hammer films, I think that they are ‘proper’ horror movies as opposed to torture movies, which I am not keen on.

I thought that the character was kind of awesome; he took some convincing that vampires existed, but was willing to be open-minded and investigate all avenues in order to stop the murders. He and Peter Cushing as Van Helsing were brilliant together.

  16. Danny Glover as Tapp in Saw. That guy does not have a good time of it, but he did a great job of portraying the obsessed and frustrated detective

  17. Sgt. Howie in The Wicker Man. At first, it seems he is an upstanding, responsible policeman trying to find a young girl, but as the film goes on, he begins to show an uglier side; that of a preachy, Christian religious bigot…He is played brilliantly by Edward Woodward.

  18. My vote goes to Morgan Freeman for seven. He’s got such a calm presence. He’s also fab in kiss the girls which is one of my favourite books

  19. Loved both Silence of the Lambs and Se7en, but to be a bit different, will go for foreign film, I Saw The Devil. Kim Soo- Hyeon (Byung-Hun Lee) hunts down the killer of his pregnant fiancé. I like serial killer films, tense and this kept my eyes glued to the screen.

  20. Willem Dafoe as Detective Donald Kimball in American Psycho, such a great character actor and really squeezes the vice on Patrick Bateman to make him feel nervous and guilty.

  21. Tangina Barrons in Poltergeist, she was the funniest cutest little demon slaying ghost evicting spirit hunter ever. Such a power house with a squeaky voice LOL

  22. Clarice Starling in ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ wins my vote, an excellent performance from Jodie Foster and an absolute classic

  23. Jean Reno as Detective Schiffer in The Empire of the Wolves plays the role with dark menace and rather magnificent facial hair.

  24. John Saxon as Lt. Donald Thompson from A Nightmare on Elm Street. One of my favourite movies and who better to play detective than the father of the daugthter who Kreuger is after! Absolute classic.
