With the launch of the third chapter of The Raven- Legacy of a Master Thief, A Murder of Ravens just two weeks away, the hunt for The Raven has been hotting up.
Over the past four weeks, The Raven’s publisher The Adventure Company (a division of Nordic Games) has placed a series of notices in The Times newspaper’s classified adverts section. Posing as an individual attempting to recover a jewel that they felt was in the hands of the wrong people, they’ve turned to the tried and tested Times classified ads to try and track down the elusive jewel thief – The Raven.
The person looking for the missing jewel simply provided an email address of Di_mond_hunter@live.co.uk – and the response from members of the public wanting to help with this real world hunt for the Master thief was as overwhelming as it was bonkers.
Among the dozens of responses from people looking to assist with the search, there were replies that ranged from potentially useful clues to a seven verse poem about a mysterious traveller called “the crocodile”. There were offers of help from travelling salesmen, promising to look for clues as they crossed Europe and even some more modern suggestions of how he could be contacted through social media channels.
“The Times classified adverts have been used for decades to great effect to track down missing persons and objects and we thought that this would be an ideal medium to offer up a search for the elusive Raven,” says Nik Blower, PR, Marketing and Franchise Director at Nordic Games. “From those who were genuinely trying to help in the search to the slightly more ludicrous responses, we were extremely pleased with the number and variation of responses we received to these adverts and it really demonstrates how the hunt for a master criminal can capture the public imagination.”
For those wishing to hunt down The Raven themselves, the season pass is now available via Steam for PC, Mac and Linux and during December via PlayStation Network and XBOX Live.
