Veteran games musician Tim Follin has launched a Kickstarter campaign to seek funding for a new game concept called Contradiction. The game uses hundreds of short live-action video clips to create a fully interactive crime drama, in which you can move around freely, interrogate characters and trap them into confessions. Tim will also be scoring the game.
Designed initially for iPad and Android tablets, the game is also portable to a wide range of formats and consoles. It’s aimed at the casual gamer, crime drama fans and movie fans in general.
Tim, a former musician responsible for writing for the ZX Spectrum, C64, NES, SNES and newer consoles, with games such as Ecco the Dolphin, Starsky & Hutch and Lemmings and who is also an award-winning short film maker now working in the TV industry, said, “This is a project I’ve been developing for some time and I’m now hoping to make it a reality. I’ve had a varied career and this project felt like the logical next step, bringing together my love of music, film and games in a unique way.”
Tim added, “The heart of the game is interviewing characters and trying to spot their lies, by pairing contradictory statements. It’s a really simple concept, but it’s deceptively powerful. That one device allowed me to write a huge and dense plot, full of personalities, scandals, affairs, secrets and lies. If I get the funding, I’m hoping to create an immersive, atmospheric, even emotional experience, that offers something genuinely new.”
Contradiction is looking to raise £10,000 in funds, so if you’d like to pledge in exchange for some cool rewards, with £10 bagging a copy of the game, visit the Kickstarter.
