The number 1 film picked by the judging panel including Joe Dante, Soska Sisters and Gale Anne Hurd, was “Play Time” by British filmmaker Ryan Thompson. It’s a fantastically paced and very visceral piece that is excellently crafted and most importantly terrifying!

There was also category winners for ‘Best Directing’, ‘Best Cinematography’ and more besides, picked out of the 280 entries received.

Bloody Cuts had this to say:

Team Bloody Cuts would like to thank everyone who has sponsored, judged, contributed, blogged, donated and watched over the last few months, as running the competition would not have been possible without their support. This has been an excellent experience and we were all hugely impressed, humbled and encouraged by the quality of the submissions, from over 280 filmmaking teams worldwide.

I love practical effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Yakuza Zero and Mafia III.
