I love prosthetic effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Always Sometimes Monsters and The Witcher

  1. I know it’s horror-lite but Scream. It felt so original when I saw it in the cinema, and (SPOILER) it was nice to see a horror where the main female survives!

  2. Judy Garland as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, well the movie was thrilling to me and a lot of other kids when I was young.

  3. i caught donald cammell’s “white of the eye” recently, and that is horrifically under-appreciated. i think cathy moriarty counts as the lead given how it turns out, although that is something of a spoiler.

those saying “copycat”; great answer. michael crichton’s “coma” with genevieve bujold still holds up too, and i really wanted to say “demon seed” with julie christie but have a hard time calling that a thriller.

  4. Jodie Foster in The Silence Of the Lambs, a top class performance by Jodie as ever – matching pound for pound the one by Anthony Hopkins in my opinion. Classic.

  5. I’m going to go with The Woman. Pollyanna McIntosh is terrifying and she’s not even the most horrible thing in the film!

  6. I’ve decided that the movie I liked with a very strong female lead has to be Kickass. The fact that she is very young and an accomplished fighter made the film enjoyable to watch.
