Catch The Fair One

It has been announced that CATCH THE FAIR ONE will be released on digital platforms on 4th April 2022 in the UK and Ireland, courtesy of Vertigo Releasing. The critically acclaimed revenge thriller from Josef Kubota Wladyka (Narcos), starring real-life professional boxer Kali ‘K.O.’ Reis, opened at Tribeca Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award and a Special Jury mention for Reis’ performance.

The film follows former boxer Kaylee ‘K.O.’ Uppashaw (Reis, who co-wrote the role with Wladyka) as she embarks on the fight of her life when she infiltrates a human trafficking ring in search of her missing sister. It features a star-making debut performance from professional boxer Reis, matched with unwavering suspense and stunning cinematography.

You can catch a glimpse of the movie in the newly released clip below.

Reis is the first Native American fighter to win the International Boxing Association middleweight crown. She also fought in the first female boxing match ever televised on HBO, and is currently the WBA Super Lightweight Champion. Reis is a fierce advocate for her Native American communities and has mentored at-risk youth.

Wladyka said of his work with Reis, “One of the most important issues K.O. speaks about and fights for is the missing and murdered Indigenous women of North America. This is an issue that we both agree needs more visibility. This film is the culmination of a four-year collaboration between K.O. and me. It is our artistic interpretation of a real issue. The world has never seen a mixed Indigenous, two-spirit hero on screen, and I’m proud of the raw, committed, performance K.O. delivers. I can’t wait for audiences to see it.”

CATCH THE FAIR ONE also stars Daniel Henshall, Tiffany Chu, Michael Drayer, Shelito Vincent, Lisa Emery, Kimberly Guerrero and Kevin Dunn. Producers are recent Academy Award winner Mollye Asher (Nomadland) at The Population, Kimberly Parker (The Last Black Man in San Francisco), and Wladyka, with Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler) executive producing alongside Mynette Louie, Derek Nguyen, Ari Handel, Cat Hobbs, James Hausler, Charles Stiefel, Todd Stiefel, Michael D’Alto, Chris Triana, Claude Amadeo, Shaun Sanghani, Sam Bisbee, and Arturo Castro.
