Supernatural Adventure Videogame LAST DAYS OF LAZARUS Releases on Steam

Last Days of Lazarus

Last Days of Lazarus, the supernatural adventure game heavily inspired by Romanian post-communist history, local superstitions and religious beliefs, has now been released on Steam. Play this first-person narrative driven game to experience an enthralling story about family, loss and dark secrets, set on the backdrop of political turmoil and a spreading malediction.

“After two and a half years of hard work, I can’t wait for players to get their hands on the game, to get immersed in the story, to get spooked a few times, but most importantly to delve into the emotional journey of a man returning home and reconciliating with his broken family plagued by delusion and sin. Mystery, shocking reveals, catharsis, sorrow, loss, religion, politics, traditions, all these and more await you in the game.” said George Remus Poiana, the game’s director.

After their mother’s suicide, Lazarus returns home to his sister Lyudmila. But unexplained events make the country and even reality collapse around him. Looming death, social unrest and the supernatural threaten his sanity, yet Lazarus pushes forward to find the truth about his family. In a sick society where everyone cares only about themselves and their survival, can family bonds still be upheld and cherished? And with so much propaganda and superstitions, can level headed thinking still be achieved? These are the sort of questions the game tackles.

The story is split into eight chapters and you’ll be visiting five locations inspired by actual places from Romania. You’ll get a chance to explore mysterious settings, interact with questionable characters, find documents to piece together what happened to this troubled family and solve light puzzles to progress.

Last Days of Lazarus is a collaboration between Darkania Works and GrimTalin, two small indie studios from Iasi, Romania. The game was made in Unreal Engine 4 over the course of more than two and a half years.

The game is available on Steam for $17.99 / 14.99€ / £13.99. The consoles version is expected to hit PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in late 2022, alongside a physical edition made in collaboration with Perp Games.

I love practical effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Yakuza Zero and Mafia III.
