That’s Pigeon Shrine FrightFest done for another year, but rest assured the dark heart of cinema is still beating furiously. There have been as many FrightFests as there are Halloweens and Friday the 13ths combined, yet it shows no signs of stopping or jumping the shark. You can read my daily blogs here, here, here, here and here. However, for those who want the bottom line then, my rankings are below. As usual, know that festival goggles apply. Also, these articles are now called ‘ranking’ rather than ‘best to worst’ because the standard is so high. So while something like Broken Bird is coming in at number 14, that doesn’t mean I don’t also like it. Heck, I’d gladly watch it again. But I should say the top 3 really were a cut above the others.

Seeing it all written down like that, seeing the forest rather than the trees, it’s a very consistent list. Please note I also saw the new 4K presentation of The Hitcher, though I haven’t listed it here since it’s an oldie – but darn is it a goodie. Thanks to the four horsemen for having me again and HorrorCultFilms for sending me. Every year, I tell myself it will probably be my last – then I see the following line-up and tell myself ‘one more.’ I imagine 2025 will be no exception to that. See y’all there.
