Not A Number Productions and Grimm Entertainment have announced the world premiere of WHITE SETTLERS on 23rd August at London’s Film4 FrightFest 2014, ahead of the theatrical release on 5th September and DVD and digital release on 18th September 2014.
WHITE SETTLERS is the first production to be distributed by Grimm Entertainment, from the organisers ofGrimmfest – one of the UK’s leading genre festivals.
Starring Pollyanna McIntosh (The Woman, Love Eternal, Filth), Lee Williams (No Night Is Too Long, The Tudors) and Joanne Mitchell (Before Dawn, Shortcuts To Hell), WHITE SETTLERS is a terrifying suspense thriller about an English couple who decide to leave the big city rat race behind in search of cheap property in the Scottish Borders, taking place over the course of one incredibly tense night.
It’s Ed and Sarah’s first night at their new home, an isolated farmhouse. This should be a new beginning away from their stressful London lives. And at first it is; come sunset they fall in love all over again as they wander in the beautiful Scottish landscape. But as darkness falls, Sarah suspects they’re not alone, Ed goes to investigate and quickly, the evening becomes a nightmare. It suddenly dawns on them; they do not belong here. And they’re certainly not welcome.
WHITE SETTLERS is directed by Simeon Halligan and written by Scottish screenwriter Ian Fenton, inspired by the rich history ofcross-border conflicts from the time of the Border Reivers in the region where Fenton lived. Set against a backdrop of political debate leading up to the Scottish independence referendum on September 18th 2014, whilst not a political film, the psychological thriller has been described as the ‘Scottish Referendum Horror’.
