If you love horror and cult movies, then chances are you have a least one movie themed piece of apparel in your wardrobe. I have several myself reflecting the movies I love, some of which can become talking points amongst friends and at film festivals. One such place to buy film and television themed t-shirts from is Tostadora.
Choosing a t-shirt from Tostadora is one of the hardest things to do. Why? Because there’s so many designs to choose from it’s like being a kid in a candy shop.
After browsing the mammoth range for what felt like hours and making a shortlist which included Donnie Darko t-shirt and In The Mouth of Madness t-shirt, I finally decided on A Clockwork Orange t-shirt.
Delivered by Royal Mail, the parcel took around a week to arrive at my address in the UK as the t-shirts are printed up in Spain. The great thing is though that there’s no duty or tax to pay because we’re part of the EU (for now, at least!).
The t-shirt arrived well packaged and came with a little washing instruction leaflet which informs you on the best way to clean your t-shirts to make them last as long as possible.
The tee is made from a super soft soft jersey cotton that feels wonderful against my skin. The t-shirt features a standard crew neck though Tostadora offers a service in which you can choose the style of t-shirt and neck so if you like V-necks then there’s that option also as well as ladies fit and tank top vests. You can also choose which colour you’d like the t-shirt to be with a handy preview image allowing you to see which colours work best with your chosen design. With the A Clockwork Orange design, it would be a crime if I went with any other colour than orange so orange it was.
I love bright colours and the orange t-shirt certainly allows the design to stand out. However, the design itself is what caught my eye. Using the face illustration from Anthony Burgess’ book as the major outline, the designer theblacklodge has used the iconic image of Malcolm McDowell’s Alex DeLarge, in white and maroon-brown, holding up a glass of milk as the background fill whilst Alex and his droogs sit in the Korova milk bar as the base of the design atop of Clockwork Orange lettering. The Korova design also features the naked lady tables too albeit in a darker orange print so as to not steal the limelight from the droogs.
Though you can feel the print, it’s flush against the fabric and, unlike transfers, it doesn’t peel. Washing the t-shirt cold (30 degrees) and inside out and hanging on a clothes horse to dry is the best way to clean the t-shirt and keep it in tip top condition. No tumble drying nor ironing the print as this is a one way ticket to ruining the fabulous tee.
In mens/unisex tees, I always wear Small due to my petite size (36″ chest). As you can see from the photo, it’s a loose fit though not too baggy and is a nice length sitting just past my hips.
Below are the measurements of men’s t-shirt, size Small.
Chest Width (armpit to armpit) | 20″ (40″ circumference) |
Length (neck to hem) |
26.5″ |
Tostadora have tons of designs to choose from that can also be printed on hoodies, not just t-shirts. They’ve recently launched wall art prints (framed and canvas) for sale too so in some cases you can have the design hanging on your wall instead.
With artists from across the globe sharing their artwork to be printed on apparel, new designs are literally being added each and every day. With many high street shops selling familiar and popular designs, you’re guaranteed to find something quirky and a bit different with Tostadora whilst also supporting the artists that designed them. It’s a win-win!
