Launching on Netflix in time for Halloween on October 28th is The B*st*rd Son & The Devil Himself, an edgy, young adult drama, grounded in the modern day where witches live amongst us. Expect magic, sarcasm, banter, potions in zip-lock bags, hunters, romance, loyalty and unbreakable friendship…it’s a truly f*cked up ride. The B*st*rd Son & The Devil Himself is written by Joe Barton (The Lazarus Project, Giri/Haji) and based on the Half Bad books by Sally Green. The series boasts an entirely new score created by British pop group Let’s Eat Grandma.

Directors include Colm McCarthy (Black Mirror: Black Museum, The Girl with all the Gifts), Rachna Suri (Mr Whippy, Our Lad) and Debs Paterson (Willow, Domina), whilst the drama is produced by Adrian Sturges (The Third Day, Chimerica) and Steve Clark–Hall (Avenue 5, The State). Executive Producers include Joe Barton, Andy Serkis, Jonathan Cavendish, Will Tennant, Phil Robertson, and Colm McCarthy (Black Mirror: Black Museum, The Girl with all the Gifts).

Sixteen-year-old Nathan (Jay Lycurgo) is the illegitimate son of the world’s most dangerous witch. Fearing he will follow in his father’s footsteps, Nathan is closely monitored throughout his childhood. As the boundaries between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ fray, Nathan – along with mischievous Annalise (Nadia Parkes) and charismatic Gabriel (Emilien Vekemans) – will soon discover who he truly is. The B*st*rd Son & The Devil Himself is written by Joe Barton (The Lazarus Project, Giri/Haji) and based on the Half Bad trilogy of books by Sally Green.

The B*st*rd Son & The Devil Himself features a cast of Jay Lycurgo (Titans, The Batman, I May Destroy You), Nadia Parkes (Domina, Starstruck) and Emilien Vekemans (Transferts), Isobel Jesper Jones, Paul Ready (Motherland, The Terror), David Gyasi (Carnival Row, Troy: Fall of a City), Kerry Fox (Conversations with Friends, Last Tango in Halifax), Liz White (Unforgotten, Brexit: The Uncivil War), Karen Connell (Vikings), Fehinti Balogun (I May Destroy You, Dune), Misha Butler (Kiss Me First) as well as multiple Brit Award and Mercury Music Prize nominee Roísín Murphy making her drama debut.

I love practical effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Yakuza Zero and Mafia III.
