In case you are unaware there is a planned sequel to the 90s slasher favourite I Know What You Did Last Summer, with both Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr linked into reprising their roles.
The news broke last year that the film was being planned with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) attached to direct the film from a screenplay by Leah McKendrick.
Since then, there has been no news about the project, with fans wondering if the idea has been shelved, which it hasn’t with McKendrick making comments only last month, saying about the sequel and that it has….
“some big ideas about hero and villain, right and wrong, how your skeletons come back to haunt you. And in the age of the internet and the age where fame is such a revered concept, the creation of TikTok and social media, who is Julie James in a world where there are no secrets anymore?”
At this current time, Love Hewitt has admitted that she hasn’t read a script and for starring in the planned Legacy return she stated:
“I can’t confirm but I won’t deny, how about that?”
Which suggests she is more onboard for a return.
The original was a box-office smash that spun a sequel that was released to mixed reviews, the third film was a straight to DVD release and is mostly ignored by all fans.
