To celebrate the release of supermarket shark horror, BAIT, available on DVD and Blu-Ray in the UK from 29th April 2013, I decided to take a look at my Top 5 cheesiest shark movies.
Shark Attack 3: Megalodon
Oh, John Borrowman, how I love thee. He’s the Scottish/American dimpled Tom Cruise-lookalikey who does his best to man it up in Shark Attack 3: Megalodon. The scenes of a shark swallowing a boat will have you in fits of laughter, but we all know why you’ll be watching, you dirty so and so’s. It’ll be for Barrowman’s infamous, “I’m feeling kinda wired…” ad-libbed line that was kept in the movie. Naughty! Read the review here
Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus
Oh yes, the shark movie that will make your jaw drop with it’s pure awesomeness. Mega Shark showed us just how powerful it could be and that you’re not safe from it’s razor sharp jaws, anywhere. Not even on an aeroplane. I kid you not. The Asylum’s Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus gained a cult following from this single scene, not to mention the demolition of a bridge and some awkward broom-cupboard sex. Director Jack Perez went on to make the incredible black comedy horror, Some Guy Who Kills People.
Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus
In Mega Shark’s second outing, he has to contend with Crocosaurus, a whopping crocodile that might just be able to defeat the shark. Brit actor Gary Stretch leads the cast as the full on warfare between these two creatures ensues.
Jersey Shore Shark Attack
Mix a reality TV show with Jaws and you get Jersey Shore Shark Attack. Yes, it’s not the real people from Jersey Shore, but it’s fun filled flick nonetheless, in a so-bad-its-good sorta way. Now if only they’d do a TOWIE Shark Attack…
2-Headed Shark Attack
What’s more scarier than a shark? A shark with 2 heads, of course! This Asylum hit went down a treat with all the cheesy shark movie fans and with glamour model Carmen Electra and Hulk Hogan’s daughter, Brooke Hogan, starring in it. We’ve indie producer Jonathan Sothcott to thank for bringing 2-Headed Shark Attack to the UK and for that we are forever grateful! A superb cheesy shark flick to round off our Top 5.
