In a surprising move, Sir Ridley Scott is being lined up to direct a movie adaptation of the British cult TV Classic The Prisoner.
Anyone who is to young to not know what The Prisoner was, it was a show that was famous for being so surreal and odd but also way before its time. Its a much cherished TV Programme that ran for 17 episodes in the 1960’s (yes that long ago) and starred Patrick McGoohan as Number Six, a former government agent who has been imprisoned in a beautiful yet bizarre mysterious isolated village.
Its rightly called a “cult classic” and while it was remade by AMC in 2009, the new adaptation was not well received, with the fans unhappy that it lost its strange essence in what made The Prisoner so special.
Will the premise be right for the big screen? Who knows, but we await and see this news development with interest!
How can you remake a classic? What’s next Gone With The Wind 2 the juxtaposition? C’mon C$ give it another run, show the modern day how TV should be!!
